NYGASP’s newly re-imagined production of The Mikado, directed by David Auxier, goes on tour, fresh off its NYC run. This new production has already received rave reviews and critical praise both in NYC when debuted three years ago and on tour in the Midwest and Pacific Northwest.

Directed and Choreographed by David Auxier-Loyola, this critically acclaimed production features a short prologue (penned by Auxier-Loyola) that drops us squarely in Victorian England, and then, no matter where Gilbert’s imagination takes us, it never lets us forget where this delightful material came from, or who we are so deliciously making good-natured, good-hearted fun of (that would be our whacko Western society and all of our hilarious excesses.)

Is love worth dying for, lying for, or even marrying for? Will Nanki-Poo get his Yum-Yum on? Or will Ko-Ko, Lord High Executioner, cut him down to size? Will the love-starved Katisha finally get her fill; and, not to speak out of school, but what’s up with those three little maids? The real question is: How can you resist this delightful masterpiece? The Mikado’s timeless tunes, abounding absurdity and astounding wit are as fresh and full of laughter now as when Gilbert & Sullivan first brought the story to life.
